Is it safe to travel in Tanzania?

where will I spend my safari nights?
You will stay in safari hotels, safari lodges and or permanent tented camps with en-suite bathrooms. Safari hotels and lodges are solid buildings, whereas tented camps have a permanent set-up which is a walk-in safari style tents that offers the same type of services as the hotels and lodges.
How many travelers are expected in a group/ travel party?
This is a private tour and hence the group/ party will only include the people or group you chose to travel with (eg. family or friends). Our modified safari 4×4 vehicles can take a maximum of 7 people and should you have a larger group traveling we will provide the appropriate number of vehicles.
What is the age limit for this tour package?
Officially there is no age limit for this tour however due to the many hours that are spent in the vehicle, we don’t recommend this trip for children under the age of 6 years old. but, if parents can confidently say that their children are comfortable in travelling long distances, they are of course welcome. However, parents are responsible for their children at all times of their Tanzania safari.
What type of transportation used during safari?
You will be transported by our modified (extended) 4×4 safari vehicles (i.e. Toyota Landcruisers or Landrovers), which have pop-up roofs that can be opened during game drives ensuring 360 degrees of unspoilt views.
What kind of food is provided during the safari holiday and is the meals cost included in package?
Meals are provided or included as indicated on the itinerary. Complementary mineral water is provided in your safari vehicle and in your room during safari. Soft drinks and alcoholic beverages are excluded in package and need to be settled by yourself, always available on sale at the lodge or camp.

You will dine at the respective accommodations. For breakfast, a buffet is usually set up, whereas a three course menu is typically served for dinner. Lunch is mostly enjoyed en-route in form of pre-packed lunch (lunch-box) consisting of sandwiches, boiled eggs and fruits or grilled chicken thighs.
Please let us know if you have any special dietary requirements or food allergies and we will do our outmost to cater for them (only possible with advanced notification).
What should be packed before departure for safari?
Upon confirmation of your safari booking you will receive a detailed essential packing list that will assist you in deciding what to bring to Tanzania before commencement of your holiday.

Are there any luggage restrictions during safari?
Yes, there are and due to the fact that space in the safari vehicle is limited, luggage is restricted to 15 kg in a soft duffel bag or rucksack. However, guests are allowed one small piece of hand luggage. Please refrain from bringing bulky hard Samsonite suitcases as this can cause problems when storing the luggage. Furthermore, please do not forget to read up on your airlines respective luggage policy.
Should I bring some cash money with me? Do I need while on safari?
Yes, we strongly suggest that you bring some spending money for extras such as drinks, snacks, African crafts/ souvenirs and tips. Please only bring USD bills that have been printed after 2006 as earlier dated bills will not be accepted.
What should I know about tips? Is it included in the package?
No, tipping after a safari is customary and is recommended 15-20 USD per day per group for the guide. For waiters and porters, we suggest 2-5 USD per service.
What are the visa requirements?
Although most nationalities can obtain a visa upon arrival in Tanzania, it is the sole responsibility of every traveler to be in possession of all required documents. We therefore strongly suggest that you contact your respective embassy for the latest visa regulations.
The cost of a single-entry visa is $50 for citizens of most countries, but $100 for Americans. A multiple-entry visa is $100, including for Americans. Transit visas are $30 and valid for 14 days.

Do I need sunscreen while on safari?
It is highly recommended that you bring your preferred form of sun protection while on safari. This can include SPF30 or higher sunblock, hats, sunglasses, and thin long-sleeve shirts and pants. Because Tanzania is close to the equator, UV rays are strong.
Where can I store my valuables while on safari?
Safaris are typically safe and you should not be overly concerned for safety of valuables. However, continue to practice normal precautions and do not flash and leave valuables out in the open. We strongly recommend that valuables which are not necessary for your trip should be left at home. You may also choose to store smaller Arusha office.

December through March is warmer (70ºF – 80ºF) with a higher chance of occasional rain. May through November is cooler and drier (60ºF – 80ºF). April, like in North America, usually brings more rain.
Should I bring mosquito and bugs repellant?
It is strongly recommended that you bring your preference of insect or mosquito repellent. Especially in the early morning and evenings, mosquitoes can be present. Some flies and ticks can also be a nuisance depending on the geographical location.
What vaccinations are needed and is Tanzania a malaria region?
Officially no vaccinations are required but seeing that Tanzania is located in a yellow fever region, we suggest getting a yellow fever vaccination for your own piece of mind.
Despite the fact that Tanzania does not require you to be vaccinated against Tetanus, Diphtheria, Polio or Hepatitis A&B, we would strongly advise to have those shots up to date.
Malaria is also a concern and we therefore recommend that some precautionary measures are taken. For more detailed information on prophylaxes and the effects and possible side effects, please contact your doctor or travel clinic.
