The Balloon Itinerary
Early pick up at 5.00am from your lodge or camp and will be transferred to your awaiting balloon at the specific launching site. If you have selected any of the private luxury camps, your driver will transfer you to the nearest lodge where you will meet up with the other guests. Keep an eye out for nocturnal predators as you may encounter them returning from their nightly hunting forays on your game drive to the launching site. Arrive at the balloon-launching site for a quick briefing from your pilot. As the blush of dawn glows to the east, you will take off and float above the vast Serengeti National Park landscape with its abundant flora and fauna. Aloft with the Serengeti Balloon Arial game viewing!
Your balloon pilot will fly you over the plains to a specific location where you will land and meet the crew in a breakfast table setting in the bush. Champagne breakfast in the plains of Serengeti! What else could you ask for.
Later you will meet your safari diver guide and continue with the rest of your holiday program of the day.
Safaris in Tanzania have something to offer to everyone. Experience the adventure of budget camping or the opulence of luxury camping safaris. Enjoy a truly memorable lodge safari, or take it one step further and go fly camping. Hunting safaris are also possible.
A balloon flight over Tarangire National Park will give you an aerial view of one of Africa’s most beautiful wildlife area. The Tarangire landscape is a diverse mix of granite ridges, river valleys and swamps. Vegetation is a mix of Acacia woodland, seasonally flooded grasslands and the thousands of Baobab trees which are dotted throughout the park.
Our balloon flight takes off close to Balloon Camp Tarangire (Nyuki camping site) and typically take a northward flight path in the direction of the Tarangire River, which name translates to “River of Warthogs “. The Tarangire River is the primary source of fresh water in the park and in the dry season, from June to November, thousands of animals including Zebras, Wildebeest and Cape Buffalo, concentrate to the park from surroundings wet season dispersal and calving areas.
The park is of course most famous for elephants and in season can be home for as many as 3000 of them. The large water features in the park, make Tarangire famous for birding and for those looking for predators, the park is also home for leopards, cheetah and tree climbing lions!
Our breakfast site is often in the Matate picnic site area which allows for a relaxing morning enjoying a hot breakfast on the ridge overlooking this most fantastic park. For many of our team at Adventures Aloft, the Tarangire balloon flight is the most picturesque balloon flight available in the Safari circuit and definitely a most special experience.
